Patriotic Wind Sock

This wind sock is a fun craft to make and hang outside.

Materials Needed:
· Circular cardboard oatmeal container
· Construction paper (in white and blue)
· Red and white crepe paper streamers
· Glue
· Yarn
· Scissors
· Hole punch

Instructions
1. Cut off the bottom of the oatmeal container.

2. Cover the oatmeal container with blue construction paper, then glue on white stars cut from the white construction paper (you can also use stickers if you like)

3. Cut the streamers to your desired length, and then glue, tape, or staple them to the bottom of the container, from the inside.

4. Next, punch four holes along the top of the wind sock.

5. Cut two pieces of yarn, each about a foot long. Tie the pieces to the wind sock, tying opposite ends of each string to on opposite holes of the container. Tie the other piece of string to the smaller pieces – this string will be used to hang the windsock.

Cascading Star Mobile

This mobile is a fun item to make and then hang from the ceiling or porch.

Materials needed:
· Red, white and blue construction paper or cardstock
· A drinking straw (have one straw for each project)
· Yarn (approximately 1 ½ feet of yarn for each project)
· Scissors
· Paint, markers, glitter, or crayons to decorate

Instructions:

1. Cut out six stars from the construction paper. They should be in various sizes; it looks best to go from large to smaller.

2. Cut each straw into 5 equal segments.

3. Cut the yarn, about 1 ½ feet long, and tie two thick knots on each end. Thread the smallest star to the end of the yarn, then place a portion of the straw over it.

4. Continue threading stars and straws, alternating by putting a straw between each star. Make sure the stars are placed in order from the smallest star to the largest.

5. When the last star has been placed on the yarn, tie a large loop in the top for hanging.

Welcome to Independence Day Fun

Welcome to Independence Day Fun, the newest of my holiday sites. The others are Fun Halloween, and Santa Claus Fun. I've been having fun making them, and it's a bit different for me, making sites that will only be visited, basically, one month out of twelve.

My plans for Independence Day Fun are to include some American history ... so stay tuned.
